i go to an extremely competitive school, it’s one of the top 100 high schools in the nation, and it’s composed of at least 700 students in just my class. But i know that doesn’t help much though since a lot of other schools are competitive as well.

all answers thanks in advance!

My personal statment topic #1 is about my grandma planting food in the garden and the messages behind them
#2 is about a bike trip I took Fall 07 that also goes into why GPa was so low and how fell off the cliff and how I got back up on my feet.

I just need to limit to which UCs that I won’t get into, because I don’t want to waste money, specifically UC Berkeley, UCLA, Davis, San Diego.

And do you think it’s an automatic in for Merced?
I’m an in-state student.
And as for why my CR is so low, I just really suck at english. :(

If you are an in-state student, and what you have said about your grades and extra curricular is true; then you have got it made. Honestly, you can apply to whatever California college/university or for that matter any other university in the nation and stand a competitive chance of getting in. As far as the U.C. system is concerned, you’re already in, so stop stressing out about it.

- Only one pointer, GET THAT CRITICAL READING UP!
Some schools have programs that only keep applications which have certain minimum scores in the different SAT sections. you somewhat lower critical reading scores might be the only reason why someone on an admissions board never reads your otherwise glowing application. Other than that, you are fine!

If you have satisfied the a-g course requirements, have a 3.0 UC GPA, and have taken the appropriate exams (SAT/Subject, etc.), you are guaranteed acceptance to ONE UC campus (likely Riverside, maybe Merced).

There is no accurate way of predicting your chance of acceptance, especially since each UC campus weigh and evaluate applicants differently. For a rough guestimate, you can review the profiles of admitted students to every UC campus for Fall 2009 (detailed breakdown of GPA, SAT, ACT, SAT II, and other statistics) at http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/ed ucators/counselors/resources/materials/I TU.pdf starting on page 39 of the PDF file. This will give you an idea of how competitive you are at each UC campus for admission.
